The Abbess of Our Lady of Kazan Convent Dies
On Wednesday, July 19, on the eve of the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, Abbess Abbess Evpraksia departed to the Lord, who had wisely guided the Convent of Our Lady of Kazan in Sydney for over 20 years. Mother Evpraksia was the spiritual daughter of Archimandrite Philaret (Voznesensky) in China, who later became the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; and of Protopriest Rostislav Gan. The late Abbess loved to repeat their advice and guidance, consoling the sisters in their sorrows and encouraging them upon their monastic path.
May the Lord bless her with His eternal peace, and may He bless the nuns of the Convent and those who loved the newly-reposed abbess with His consolation and grace. |
