On April 6, 2009, His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Athanasius of Hvosno, Patriarchal Vicar, visited His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. During their warm and friendly meeting, Archbishop Mark expressed gratitude to His Holiness for his holy prayers for the reestablishment of ecclesiastical unity within the Russian Orthodox Church. The next day, on the feast of the Annunciation, when the Serbian Church marked the 30-th anniversary of the repose of St Justin Popovich, Archbishop Mark participated in the celebration of Divine Liturgy headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilojie of Montenegro and the Coastlands, along with a host of archpastors and clegymen, in Celije Monastery, where the saint is buried.
In his sermon, Vladyka Mark called St Justin "a sun of Europe, a new star of the Orthodox Christians of Serbia and a sky for our land," noting that Fr Justin was always filled with love, holiness and "the wisdom of St Sava."
