Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe Participates in the Triumph of Orthodoxy Celebrations in Paris
On Sunday, March 4, 2012, the first Sunday of Great Lent, His Eminence Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe, Hieromonk Alexander (Sinyakov), Rector of the Paris Theological Seminary and teachers and students of the institution celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Church of Holy Martyr Stephan in Paris, the Cathedral of the Metropoliate of the Constantinople Patriarchate.
Officiating at Liturgy was His Eminence Metropolitan Emanuel of the Constantinople Patriarchate. He was joined by His Eminence Metropolitan John of Western Europe of the Antiochian Patriarchate and Vladyka Michael, as well as priests of the Georgian and Serbian Orthodox Churches. Singing were the Greek cathedral choir, the choir of the Russian Seminary and Georgian and Serbian parish singers of the Paris region.
At the request of Metropolitan Emmanuel, Fr Alexander gave a sermon following the Gospel reading.
After Liturgy, the Rite of Orthodoxy was performed, after which Metropolitan Emmanuel welcomed the hierarchs in attendance, noting that this was the first time that Archbishop Michael has served in Paris’ Greek Cathedral. He also thanked the Seminary Rector and students for participating in the celebration.
