On Sunday, June 7, 1992, Metropolitan Vitaly (Oustinov) of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; Archbishop Anthony of San Francisco and Western America; Archbishop Laurus (future Primate of ROCOR) of Syracuse and Holy Trinity Monastery, and Bishop Hilarion of Manhattan (present First Hierarch of ROCOR), consecrated Hegumen Kyrill (Dmitrieff) to the episcopacy during Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco, CA. He was appointed Vicar of Seattle. During the same service, Subdeacon Andrei Sommer (now Protopriest Andrei) was ordained to the deaconate. The staff of the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia wishes to congratulate His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill, now Ruling Bishop of the Western American Diocese and Editor-in-Chief of our site, on the 25th anniversary of his episcopal service and prayerfully wish him the abundant aid of God in his difficult archpastoral service, good health and boldness of spirit for many blessed years!
