NEW YORK: October 12, 2024
On the feast of the uncovering of the relics of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco the Wonderworker, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrates Divine Liturgy

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the day of the uncovering of the incorrupt and healing relics of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco the Wonderworker, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at St Sergius of Radonezh Church at the Synodal residence in New York City. Concelebrating with His Eminence was Archpriest Vasily Zelenyuk, along with Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky and a decent gathering of praying clergy and faithful.

In his homily at the end of Divine Liturgy, His Eminence noted that on each floor of the Synodal residence there is an icon of St John, which reminds us that as a member of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, he often celebrated divine services here and had his own cell, where, according to tradition, his successors in the Western American cathedra stay. This also testifies to the fact that the warm intercession and prayerful help of St John accompany us to this day in our church life. Congratulating everyone on the feast, Vladyka Nicholas invoked God's blessing upon everyone.

Afterwards, the archpastor, clergy and parishioners shared a trapeza luncheon.
