The Cathedral of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" celebrates the uncovering of the incorrupt relics of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco the Wonderworker

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the anniversary of the discovery of the relics of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco the Wonderworker, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at Obretensky Church, the former burial vault of the ever-memorable archpastor, located under the altar of the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco, with the participation of students of the Lyceum of St John in San Francisco and students of St Cyril and Methodius Russian Church High School.

The festive service was led by the Senior Priest of the Cathedral, Archpriest Peter Perekrestov, co-served by the cathedral clergy and guests in the priesthood who arrived for the celebrations. After the Divine Liturgy, the participants in the service proceeded in procession to the holy reliquary with the relics of St John in the upper church, where the moleben ended with a prayer to the saint and the singing of the magnification to him.
