Celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the parish took place at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Meudon
The parish of the Resurrection of Christ in Meudon, France, celebrated the centenary of its foundation on May 17-18, 2025, with solemn archpastoral services, the ordination of a deacon, and festive parish events.
Divine services were led by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, assisted by the former Ruling Bishop of the diocese—now retired Archbishop Michael. He was joined by the rector of the Meudon church, Protodeacon Mikhail Gudkov, the clergy of the diocese, and guests in sacred orders.
Being dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, the parish especially deeply and joyfully celebrated its centenary during this current Easter period. The vigil service was performed with great prayerful fervor and rejoicing; Archbishop Michael blessed the breads, and both archpastors went out for the polyeleos while the Easter hymns were beautifully sung by two choirs under the direction of Reader Nikolai Gudkov and Matvey Malinin.
Before Divine Liturgy, Bishop Irinei was met at the entrance of the church with bread and salt, after which he was vested in the center of the temple, and then the Paschal Hours were solemnly chanted. The altar was shared with Archbishop Michael, and the Liturgy commenced in an atmosphere of joyful thanksgiving. After the consecration of the Holy Gifts, Deacon Mikhail Artsimovich of the Meudon parish was ordained to the deaconate amidst joyful shouts of "Axios!". After the service, His Grace presented Archpriest Michel and the entire Medon parish with a certificate from the Synod of Bishops on the occasion of the centenary, after which "Eternal Memory" was chanted for the founders of the parish and Many Years were proclaimed for its current shepherds and flock.
The celebration continued after the services with a magnificent festive lunch at the historic Institute of St George the Great Martyr, during which those present were given a commemorative brochure about the history of the temple, and musical and cultural performances, toasts, and congratulations from archpastors, clergy, and parishioners were offered.
