Photo-report on the feast-day celebrations at St Vladimir Church, the First Russian Orthodox Church in New South Wales
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the feast day of Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, His Eminence Archbishop George of Sydney and the Australian-New Zealand Diocese celebrated Divine Liturgy and a prayer service with a procession of the cross around St Vladimir Church in Sydney, founded in 1938. Until 1953, when SS Peter and Paul Cathedral was opened, it served as the cathedral of the Australian-New Zealand Diocese.
His Eminence was joined by Archpriest Daniel Metlenko, who spent many years serving the faithful in this corner of Russian Australia, along with visiting clergy. After the service, the parish sisterhood offered a festive reception.
